So What's The Big Deal With Protein? First, almost everything in your body is made out of protein. Your hair, your skin, your fingernails, your internal organs, your muscles, even your bones. All protein! Protein repairs and heals you. It keeps you healthy and strong. Protein helps balance your hormones and body chemicals, including the neurotransmitters that make you smart and keep you feeling good. Protein helps satisfy you and keep you feeling fuller longer. Protein also stimulates your metabolism, so you burn more calories every day. We think those are pretty good reasons to eat more protein!
What Foods Have Protein? • poultry: chicken, turkey, duck, ostrich, goose • red meats: beef, pork, lamb, wild game, lean sausage • fish: salmon, tilapia, tuna, sardines, herring, mackerel, etc. • seafood: shrimp, crab, scallops, calamari / octopus • dairy: cottage cheese, low-fat cheese, Greek yogurt • eggs: chicken, duck, goose, quail • vegetarian: tofu, tempeh, lentils & beans • protein powders: whey protein, egg white protein, hemp protein, pumpkin seed protein, vegetarian blends
So What's A Serving? We are going to talk about this more during the nutritional seminar this Saturday at 1030am, but for now let's keep it super simple! Look At Your Palm! 🔷 For women, a serving equals one palm-sized piece of lean protein. 🔷 For men, a serving equals two palm-sized pieces of lean protein. Try to eat some healthy protein every 3 hours or so.
This is your challenge for now. Next up...wait and see! |
