WHAT IS ELECTROLYSIS?
"Electrolysis" is a term that has become synonymous with "permanent hair removal" over past 142 years, since 1875. Electrolysis is the specialty of permanent hair removal utilizing only solid needle type devices. Originally it was a process involving the insertion of a wire filament into the hair follicle, while the patient held onto an electrode. A weak current, generated by a battery, was passed from the electrode through the patient’s body to the wire filament and back to the battery. In other words, Electrolysis is the decomposition of a chemical compound or body tissues, particularly hair root protein, by means of electricity and salt water.
