Hi We’re getting closer to my target re-opening date of July 6th 🙌, and that means I need to share with you some of the things I’ve been working on in preparation. I’ve made some big improvements to the space and to our programs.
Our biggest improvement is the new Eleiko SVR Platform. This 7x8 foot platform is the quietest platform I have ever seen! We’ve dropped over 200kg and you can’t feel it anywhere -it’s amazing 😍. Next you’ll notice some improvements on space. We added 2 new whiteboards for writing down workouts, and got rid of some bulky equipment that was just taking up space. We’re not done yet, but some things have been backordered or difficult to obtain and so you’ll see that things just continue to get better every week. On the program side I have 2 new and exciting things to share. First is our Monkey Rite of Passage (MRP) Program. As most of you know, you can’t lift without a private training session unless you’ve earned Supervised Open Lifting Privileges. What This program does is give you a clear path to earning your privileges and your Open Lift Pin 💪💪. MRP is a 12 week comprehensive exercise and lifting program. In 12 weeks a participant learns all of the fundamental Kettlebell and Barbell Strength (swings, deadlifts, getups, presses, squats and more!) exercises as well as a few other things. It consists of 2 private coaching sessions and 1 supervised lifting session a week. All sessions are delivered to you via the TrainHeroic App on your phone or tablet.
Next is we’re super proud to announce an 8 week Beginner Olympic Weightlifting Program. The program assumes that the student has already completed the MRP or has demonstrated competent skill in the basic lifts needed to learn the Olympic Lifts: the Barbell Snatch, Clean and Jerk. By the end of this program the student will be able to competently execute the quick lifts, and will learn some valuable accessory lifts and exercises to help them refine their skills. If you want to learn to Oly lift well, and mitigate your chances for injury -this is for you! In addition, upon completion of the program, all students will receive an exclusive Iron Monkey Strength Oly Lifter Pin/badge to celebrate their achievement.
This brings me to our next announcement: We are launching our new Merit Pin program. This program establishes Lifting and Feat of Strength milestones for our students to train and reach for and celebrates those achievements with collectable pins. These pins are all original art, and are beautifully designed and crafted. If you don’t follow us on Instagram you need to start (@ironmonkeystrength)! We’ll be revealing over the next 6 months what each Pin looks like and how you can earn it. What makes this so exciting is, it is exactly what separates our little school from other studios and gyms. We want to inspire you to get stronger and healthier. We do this by establishing high standards and milestones to work towards. So each badge is a challenge for you to work towards and earn. We’re starting with just 4 which will bring the total number of pins to 6. You already know about 2 of them; the Open Lift Pin, and the Oly Lifting Pin.
