Research shows that when the body is deprived of sleep, the appetite is stimulated. This may result in one consuming unnecessary calories. According to the director of the Sleep Research Laboratory at the University of Chicago, when you try to stay awake, you may feel bored or find things to be tedious. When this happens you may eat to comfort yourself. So if you are short on sleep one night, you may find it difficult to avoid unhealthy “comforting” foods the next day. Try to sleep at regular hours. Studies show that people who sleep 7 to 8 hours a night are in better health than those who sleep 6 hours or less. When you can't avoid staying up late, try to avoid eating fatty or sweet foods for a snack. Try to make sure you get a good night's rest to help give you energy for the day and help regulate your appetite. |
