Don't Miss the Chance to Nourish Your Child's Growth
We believe every child deserves a chance to grow musically. Most music students are not going to grow up to be professional musicians, but they are going to GROW through the study of music in countless other ways. At OnStage, we make it a point to make sure they have fun doing it!!
Here are some of the things your child could be missing out on...
Music enhances the process of learning by simultaneous engagement of senses, muscles, and cognitive skills.
Music cultivates skills that are useful throughout life for both children and adults. Some examples include concentration, coordination, perseverance, self-confidence and esteem as well as relaxation.
Students of music and the arts have higher grades, better standardized test scores, and are more active in the community as documented by many studies from higher level institutions.
Music helps to broaden a child's understanding and appreciation of the world.
The adjustment decisions involved in the performance of a musical instrument for tempo, tone, style, rhythm, and phrasing train the brain to be good at organizing and conducting numerous activities at once. Being able to synergistically combine elements is a critical skill in today's job environment.
Music is a language that brings people together. No matter what your native tongue happens to be, one can share thoughts and feelings with music.
Music can just be plain FUN!!! Video Games also are fun, but they don't also accomplish all of the above. At OnStage we make sure your child is having a fun experience so that they continue learning and practicing and all of our faculty have at least a Bachelors Degree in music.

Music lessons may help your child develop thinking skills.
A study on six year old children showed that children given nine months of music training scored an average of three points higher on intelligence quotient tests than those who didn’t receive training.Learning to play the piano involves use of a variety of segments of the brain including areas housing spatial reasoning skills, emotion, creativity, and motor skills. Giving your child music lessons may ultimately translate into more effective cognitive skills in school.
Music lessons help with focus and concentration.
Another reason why piano lessons are helpful to children is that piano training requires focus and concentration. To play an instrument successfully, a child must be able to read the music and translate the notes on the page into hand movements that express the musical passage. This requires a great deal of focused concentration on the part of the child. Development of the ability to focus can aid in achieving academic success later in life.
Piano lessons help to build confidence.
When a child studies piano and successfully masters the skills involved in playing music, he develops self esteem and confidence in his ability. This confidence will follow your child throughout his school years and can make him a more successful student. This is why piano lessons are so often recommended at a young age.
Piano lessons help your child overcome shyness.
By participating in OnStage recitals, your child becomes comfortable performing before a group which can be instrumental in helping your child overcome shyness. It also gives your child a skill he can perform at school events such as talent shows and musicals.
Music lessons can be a lifelong asset to your child.
Unlike gymnastics and some sports where the opportunity to play and be successful is limited to those who are young, piano lessons will give your child a skill he can carry into adulthood and even into old age. An eighty year old can derive just as much pleasure as a six year from singing or playing an instrument well.
If you want to give your child a head start in life, you may want to consider the considerable advantages of music lessons. You’ll be rewarded when your child fills your home with beautiful music.

Jon Jamson Guitar and Ukulele
Jon is a native to Charlotte, NC and found an interest in music at a young age.
When he was 10, his Aunt stored her organ at his mother's house and lucky for him it was kept in his bedroom.
Jon would sit at the organ and sound out his favorite Christmas tunes and movie theme songs.
Jon didn't start taking music seriously until high school when he inherited my best friend's "Hondo" acoustic guitar.
He was self taught until college when he begin his music education with a brilliant instructor, Mike Pitts.
With Mike, Jon laid the foundation for what has become a fruitful experience with music and the guitar.
With much encouragement he decided to attend Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC and study music performance with a focus on jazz guitar.
Jon earned his BA in Music Performance in 2008. His music experience has continued since then in my performing and playing locally.
In 2010 he decided to set his eyes on teaching at the elementary level. Jon earned my North Carolina Teacher's license in 2011 and was hired as a second grade teacher at Reedy Creek Elementary School in Charlotte where he taught for 2 years. Unfortunately his mother became ill and Jon had to leave teaching to be close to home. Jon works as a deli and bakery manager for Harris Teeter during the day, but his passion is teaching music at OnStage in the evenings. His students describe him as energetic and fun-loving.
