Why didn't I get a BEST Today?
Why didn't I do better than last week?
We get this question from time to time. Most of us are very competitive with ourselves and may be disappointed when we don't achieve a new "best" during our OsteoStrong session.
The results in an individual session will always vary significantly, based on a wide number of factors.
OsteoStrong sessions are based on "maximum" efforts stimulating myofibril hypertrophy. Therefore, it can be expected that variability will be significantly greater than conventional exercise sessions, such as multiple reps of a given weight, aimed at sarcoplasmic hypertrophy.
Typically, training in conventional exercise sessions produces highly replicable results, e.g., 4 sets of 10 exercises using a specific weight, which is not intended to measure maximum force output.
Some factors that can influence maximum force production numbers week to week in an OsteoStrong session can include nutrition among other factors, including:
- Hydration
- Electrolyte Levels
- Proper Nutrients to help your body get the maximum benefits, including protein, calcium, boron, magnesium, potassium, vitamin D3 and vitamin K2.
- Inflammatory Foods- a meal high in foods that inflame the body.
- Sleep
- Muscle soreness from other strenuous activities
- Hitting a plateau while the rest of our kinetic chain strengthens - you are only as strong as your weakest tendon, ligament, muscle, or other tissues including bone.
Keep at it! Plateaus are inevitable but a sign that you are strengthening areas you did not know were weak!
