I was having a conversation with a dear friend a few weeks ago and she mentioned that when she is not in a relationship she slips into depression. Now, this friend has never been clinically diagnosed with depression and I would even go so far as to say what she calls depression is actually just loneliness. Depression is a serious condition and shouldn't be taken lightly and the term shouldn't be used loosely. Prayers for those who suffer from it. As our conversation continued, my initial thought was confirmed. She talked about how her favorite part of being in a relationship is “cuddling”. Ding Ding….enter oxytocin. Oxytocin is actually nicknamed the “cuddle hormone” because it is often activated when we are close contact with another. |
