We have listed recommended ages, but everyone is welcome to drop in on anything that looks fun and interesting! All Classes are 30 minutes.

Songs and stories is an opportunity for kids under the age of five to experience live music in a fun, engaging, and interactive group Zoom session. Participants will have the opportunity to sing and dance, play musical games, learn songs, and watch professional musicians up close.

For kids ages 0 - 5 and their parents. FREE.

Listen to Phil make some of the strangest sounds you’ve every heard with his array of electronic noise and music making machines.  From beeps, bloops, blips and bonks to scritchy, scratchy drones and rhythms, your ears will be treated to some wild and wonderful processed sounds. 

Fun for All Ages! FREE.

Songs on a single string is a class for beginners that simplifies the guitar and has you playing melodies just about right away! All Ages are welcome. The course uses the book “Songs On A Single String” by RSoM faculty, Steven van Betten.

Best suited for students 5 and up. Adults welcome. FREE.

Interactive Ear Training is for everyone and every instrument. Actually, we won’t really use our instruments as much as our ears! We will investigate the organization of sound that creates the fabric of music across all genres. We will gain the ability to hear any two pitches and identify the names musicians use to identify them. As well as chords and rhythms.

Best suited for students 12 and up. FREE.

Creative Ability Development (CAD) is a method which uses musical improvisation as a tool to develop the creative side of the brain. It's pedagogical purpose is to teach unique self expression or musicality. It's philosophical purpose is to develop the ethical character of artistry in every student, which is the search for, and expression of, truth and beauty. CAD teaches students how to create together and share ideas, and inspires in each student a non-competitive internal drive for excellence.

The method is based on research, which explains how the process of creativity works in the brain to solve problems. Using music as a language and improvisation as a tool, the method of CAD replicates this creative process through group games and solo exercises. Through disciplined practice of the CAD method, all students can develop their innate creative ability to a very high level.

Enjoy a mini concert in your living room every Friday. A member of the Rhodes School of Music faculty will perform a short 20-30 minute zoom concert for your enjoyment. Bring some live music into your living room. It's ok -- you can be noisy, start late, or leave early! Just enjoy!
