Located in the George Washington National Forest, they will have you grinning the whole time (well, most of it, lol!). For a longer ride, add the two together.The Little Schloss Loop is 7 miles long. You start on a gravel road, then turn off onto a steep fireroad for a bit over a mile. The top traverse is quite technical and will likely require some walking. But once the trail opens up for the final descent, it is a blast! Details on MTB Project: Little Schloss LoopThe Cedar Creek trail is just under 6 miles, so about 11 as an out-and-back. Basically, you end up riding along a rocky creek bed. Not much elevation gain, but you still might find yourself winded from working your way through the rocks. Getting out on the water is always great fun! Now that spring has been here for a few weeks, it is getting warm enough for regular floats. Times may be tough, but adventures can still go on. Did you know we offer free maintenance clinics? Generally, they are the last Monday of every month. We go over how to care for your bike, cycling safety, changing flat tires and more. Everyone is welcome, no RSVP necessary. You can check our website or Facebook for upcoming dates and times. The next one is February 24 at 5:00 pm.We also offer private classes that are more hands-on, working on your personal bike. See and associate to schedule your private class. Private classes do have an associated fee, but are more in-depth.Come on out to the shop for some fun! We have several Smart Trainer set up so you can try your hand at racing on a virtual race course against others in real time. These Smart Trainers automatically adjust resistance so you feel the gradients; it makes it just like riding outside! We will be using the interactive cycling program Zwift to feature these products and show you just what is possible with indoor riding. This event is free and open to all. You do not have to stay for the entire event, you can can come and go as you please. Check out our video to learn more!.Sky-Mass is a well-know road cycling route that starts in Front Royal, takes you up Skyline Drive to Thorton Gap, down through Luray, up over Massanutten Mountain and back to Front Royal along FT Valley. It is a challenging ride: 82 miles with 7,000+ feet of elevation gain. My preference is actually to do the loop in reverse, as Mass-Sky. The climbs and descents are better that direction, and you get to end with a 6 mile descent at 30+ mph!We're still working on a page hightlighting local loops, but we do have some brochures in the store on loops for road cycling, mountain biking, and more. We're serving up another excellent mountain bike adventure! The Spruce Knob to Seneca Creek adventure is a true backcountry excursion; in fact, it is designated by the International Mountain Bike Association as an IMBA EPIC. 17.6 miles long, with about 70% of it awesome singletrack. This is certainly not an easy ride, with around 1,950 feet of elevation gain, so a fair amount of climbing is involved. This is not a ride for beginner mountain bikers. You should have intermediate to advanced skill and stamina. This ride is not a race, so we will be taking breaks from time to time to make sure we are together (if we have enough participants, we will split into multiple groups).Apple Blossom is just around the corner, and Element Sports will have a display at the Subaru Adventure show at Jim Barnett Park. We hare hoping to debut a few new custom jerseys and cycling kits there! We have several new designs, including a men's and women's Apple Orchard kit like the women's pictured. Be sure to stop by, say Hello, and pick up a cycling kit!We are organizing the first Triple Peak Gran Fondo this June! This event will help to raise funds for CCAP, the local charity. A portion of each registration will be donated, and each registrant is asked to bring a canned good for the food pantry.
